Sweetie project holds training sessions in Manila

Team members of the Sweetie Project introduce Philippine law enforcement agencies to the latest software developed as part of Sweetie 2.0

In June and July of 2017, the Sweetie project held several meetings in Manila to present the Sweetie 2.0 software to a large variety of government agencies in the Philippines. The National Police (PNP), the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) participated in training sessions and workshops and demonstrated a great interest in the system which is  designed to intercept, identify and deter individuals who use the internet to sexually abuse children. Both the PNP and DOJ are presently involved in a pilot project to explore the workings and potential of Sweetie 2.0 and are keen to adopt the software as a pro-active approach to curb the ever- growing demand for webcam sex with children, a phenomenon especially prevalent in the Philippines.
